Beachy Girl Time!

My bossom buddy, Amy, and I spent the last few days at her parents beach house on Emerald Isle. It was a much needed get-a-way for both of us! Once there, we were practically alone. Besides a few dog walkers, we saw no one on the beach! We relaxed the days away reading books and magazines, eating delicious food, taking long walks on the beach, watching movies and TV (neither of us have cable so we were in Food channel heaven!), having long, un-interupted conversations...it was perfect.

Monday was fog day

One morning we made the sour cream pancakes from "The Pioneer Woman Cooks" cookbook. They. Were. Awesome!

Tuesday was bright and Sunny!

In the evening we took a loaf of bread out to the beach to feed the seagulls. I think we were still in our jammies! All the gulls were playing and swimming over the ocean. We tried getting their attention with the bread, but, to no avail. Amy made the comment, "If we can get just one...the rest will follow". After about 6 minutes of chucking bread crumbs into the sea, we caught one birds attention. Then...
No joke! It was a total Alfred Hitchcock, "The Birds" moment! We both stared in shock. Then, we did what we came out there to do. We must have looked like mad-crazy people! Here we are, screaming, in our jammies, all alone, frantically tearing at our bread slices to feed the million seagulls surrounding us!

Wednesday morning, before we left for home, we went out to feed the seagulls again. It wasn't nearly as exciting as Tuesday's feeding, but it was still fun.

  1. Oh wow, that looks amazingly relaxing. It's hard to imagine going to the beach right now, since the Utah snow hasn't quite melted yet. What a fun vacation! I'm dying to know, is the eastern transition from summer to fall as amazing as everyone claims?

  2. Amanda, yeah, the transition here in NC is pretty nice because you still have the fall colors but without a sudden drop in temperature. It's like a soft, pillowy transition!

Mica, nice post! The one shot of the single seagull is pretty. Also, those pancakes look simply mouth-watering.
