After our visit to Nauvoo we stopped at Carthage Jail.
There was a visitor center (not pictured) where we watched a video depicting the death of the prophet Joseph Smith before our tour of the jail. It was easy to enjoy the tour because we were the only visitors there that day.

The gentleman giving the tour retold what took place in this room. Then he let us sit quietly for awhile as we listened to a recorded account of the story. It was very moving!
